More About Me and my Mission

A little MORE about yours truly.

I had a long and VERY bumpy road while achieving my dreams of becoming a periodontist and implant surgeon. Through the power of words, I hope I can share my unique story and experience. I have made it my mission to inspire others who feel alone in their struggle, by sharing my doubts, insecurities, and triumphs.

In “The Pocket”, I want to cover a variety of topics; ranging from dental school, perio/implant residency, to food, fashion, and health. —I wish I could say travel, but I despise leaving my house (we can talk about that later). I’m not claiming to be an expert on anything, but I’m full of opinions, and when i’m not, i’m sure I can find people who have some! ( I know a few experts, too)

I first got the idea to start a blog when I was searching for a platform to share my story with others. Personally, I’ve always longed for a website where I could go, or even a young/relatable professional who I could direct all my pressing dental questions to! Questions like… as a pre-dent I wanted to know if I needed to wear a boring black suit to interviews, or if that beige pant suit was IT. While in dental school, it would have been helpful to know things like, how to be more efficient with my time, so I could study more efficiently. Even in residency, I wanted to know what special tricks there were for public speaking… especially when i’m highly caffeinated from exhaustion and my heartbeat feels like it belongs to a hummingbird.

We live in a time where there are so many social media platforms available, and so many young professionals willing to share the raw emotions that go along with that journey. So, that being said, i’m not special or different from other medical/dental influencers/bloggers out there, but my personal experience is unique —just don’t call me a snowflake.

I thought by sharing my hurdles, that others could find something of value listening to my raw and sometimes emotional story.
